About the team The Finance department is an integral part of the firm and its service company. The team manages all aspects of the financial running of the business in conjunction with the financial aspects of matter maintenance. They provide information and support to all levels of the firm. The main duties in the finance team consist of accounts receivable, accounts payable, trust accounting, payroll and reporting. Responsibilities Monitor and manage daily activity across all eBilling platforms, ensuring timely and accurate submissions. Liaise with legal assistants, partners, and external vendors to resolve eBilling queries and rejection issues promptly. Track invoice status and follow up to ensure approvals and payments are received on time. Support regular WIP reviews with partners and lawyers to maintain matter hygiene and drive timely billing. Prepare reporting on WIP ageing, trends, and matters requiring attention. Coordinate debtor follow-ups, including preparing aged debtor lists and contacting clients professionally when required. Identify and escalate risks or delays in billing or collections. Act as a key liaison between finance and legal teams for all billing, WIP, and debtor queries. Build strong relationships with internal teams and external client contacts to ensure smooth billing processes. Assist with preparing working capital reports, including WIP, unbilled disbursements, outstanding eBills, and debtor ageing. Support month-end billing and revenue tasks. Maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes. Contribute to improvements in billing systems, workflows, and policies. Requirements To be considered for this role, you will have Essential Experience in billing, eBilling, accounts receivable, or working capital coordination, ideally within a professional services or law firm environment. Strong understanding of the billing cycle, financial processes, and client billing requirements. High attention to detail and accuracy in all billing‑related tasks. Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing deadlines effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience using legal practice management systems (e.g., Aderant, Elite 3E, Affinity) is highly regarded. Desirable Familiarity with common eBilling platforms (e.g., T360, Morae, Brightflag) desirable. Understanding of legal billing guidelines and compliance expectations. Experience supporting fee‑earners or partners with WIP reviews and debtor management.
